10 December 2003: Human Rights Day
The General Assembly of the United Nations on 10 December 1948 adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Right (resolution 423 V) and ever since, this day has been celebrated as the 'International Human Rights Day.'
This year marks the 55th anniversary of the
Universal Declaration of Human Rights which recognizes the respect for human dignity and individual freedoms. The Universal Declaration has been an instrument to recognize that respect and human dignity are the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.
