21 May: Fight Hunger - Walk the World!
On May 21 there will be people marching against child hunger
in every time zone of the world. The “Walk the World”
march is an annual advocacy event that gathers over 200 000 people
all over the world to bring to the forefront the suffering of
children and the need for concrete action in the global effort
against hunger.
Promoted since 2005 by World Food Programme (WFP) and supported
by a series of partnerships such as TNT, Caritas Internationalis,
Islamic relief, the Millennium Campaign and World Vision among
others, “Walk the World” seeks to become a fixed date
in the calendar of advocacy and awareness raising activities all
around the world.
There are already more than 60 events registered to take place
on 21 May all around the world to raise awareness and money that
will go directly to WFP’s global school feeding programme
that offers meals at school to some of the world’s most
vulnerable children.
