5th Annual Conference for African Development Finance
The
African Centre for Investment Analysis (ACIA) jointly with
SABC Africa and a number of national and International organizations is hosting the 5th annual Development Finance Conference, on 8-9 October, 2003 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The two day conference is focused on finance for development in Africa and its main issues will be primarily related to microfinance, growth and development of African markets. Since the conference will focus more on the practitioner than academic side of finance, the aims is to examine issues of development finance relevant to promoting sustainable development in Africa by presentations, best practices, case studies and empirical research in development.
The Conference will also serve as a base for the first ever
Africa Small Micro and Medium Enterprises (SMME)
awards which is presented to businesses that strive for excellence in order to be competitive in regional, national and international markets. Thirty Personalities of the Year will be nominated as of the best SMME Promoters, the best SMME Journalist and more than twenty five for the best SMMEs in Africa.
Partners for the conference and the SMME's Awards include also the Government of South Africa, the
United Nations Development Programme (UNDP),
NEPAD,
African Project Development Facility (APDF), the Stellenbosch University Business School (USB) and the
International Financial Corporation (IFC).
