A communication network on agriculture information for Central and Eastern Europe
With the support of the Regional chapter of the International Association of Agricultural information Specialists (IAALD) and the FAO, some 22 countries from Central and Eastern Europe established an international network with resource tools and agriculture information about the region.
Through a common website portal, each country-member maintains and updates national web pages which provide access to information about agriculture related institutions such as ministries, libraries, universities and research centres as well as information on NGOs and agro marketing organizations. These resources help achieve one of the network's main goals of enhancing the exchange of information and experiences among its members.
In linking people and organizations who work in the agricultural field, the network also develops activities and events related to cross-cutting topics such as food and nutrition programmes, forestry programmes, veterinary medicine and education in agriculture, among others.
Other strategic partners of the Agroweb Network include
FAO's World Agricultural Information Centre (Waicent), the
Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR),
FAO's Sub-regional Office for Central and Eastern Europe, A
groWeb Central Asia and Caucasus, the
Network on Recycling of Agricultural, Municipal and Industrial Residues in Agriculture (RAMIRAN),
Veterinary Biotechnology, Epidemiology and Food Safety Network (Centuar) and
GAKNET, the information division of Gödöllo Agribusiness Centre.
