Food Security information for action website

The joint European Commission - FAO Food Security Information for Action Programme has recently launched a website providing access to food security related information and resources to enhance national capacity in the use of this information for more effective anti-hunger policies and programmes.

Specialized food and development agencies have gathered a wealth of information to analyze the situation of food insecurity all around the world. The use of this information in the formulation of more effective food security policies and programmes can make the difference in the fight against hunger.

The main objectives of the programme are to improve the collection, management, analysis and dissemination of food security information; reinforce capacity to formulate policies, strategies and programmes integrating food insecurity and vulnerability information; and raise awareness of governments, local actors and international community on the impact of food insecurity on related policies.

The website offers an array of distance learning options, training, useful links to relevant publications as well as toolkits for analysis of food security information. These resources are tailored to be used by mid-level managers, technical staff, field personnel as well as planners, policy formulators and programme managers who are involved in monitoring progress in poverty reduction, and meeting food security goals and targets.
