As part of the Digital Series “Institutions for Rural Development” the Sustainable Development Department of FAO launched three distance learning CDs designed for rural producer organizations:
- Understanding and Supporting Rural Producer Organizations: providing useful information on relevance and type of organizations as well as their structure
- Understand Analyze and Manage a Decentralization Process: users can familiarize themselves with the main principles and operational aspects of decentralization in rural development
- Participatory Project Formulation: shows users how to apply the different participatory approaches and methods for the formulation of projects.
This series of capacity building CDs are based on the experience of training courses provided in 2004 and 2005 at the Agronomic Mediterranean Institute in Bari , and Montpellier . The first two training courses are available in both English and French. Each course is divided into four modules that give 3 to 5 text units (Inputs), complemented by Exercises and in some cases and the introduction of useful Tools and Applications.
The third CD was prepared as a complement to the Website “Participation, Sharing our Resources” http://www.fao.org/participation/ and it is currently only available in English.
All CDs include sections with links to literature and a Glossary. A fourth CD to complete the series is also scheduled to be launched very soon.
