Madagascar: Creation of an International Alliance against Hunger in Madagascar
Celebrations held this year during World Food Day 2003 under the theme International Alliance against Hunger gave the international community, UN agencies and civil society in Madagascar the opportunity to create a national alliance of this type in order to unite the efforts of various actors to mobilize necessary funds to implement programs that can help overcome poverty and hunger, especially in rural areas.
In order to promote this campaign against hunger a brochure about the national alliance against hunger in Madagascar was prepared and distributed during the World Food Day 2003.
This information document that can be downloaded
here, presents the various partners involved in the national alliance: producers and consumers of food products, international organizations such as
ILO, FAO,
WFP,
UNDP,
UNICEF,
UNFPA and the
World Bank, the European Union,
SEECALINE, agro-food industries, scientists and university students, donors, decision makers, religious groups like
Caritas Madagascar,
Catholic Relief Services (CRS), ministries, cooperatives, NGOs as well as other local and international and national institutions.
